Tactical Network Engineer

Supporting PM Tactical Network

Location: Multiple Locations

Salary: 85K – 145K Annual; Commensurate with experience/education

Task Description: Tactical Network Engineer

Serve as focal point and subject matter expert in support of Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) Systems Engineering INC 2 networks. Identify and report problems and discrepancies to the Project Manager (PM) or headquarters functional managers. Recommend resolutions when unable to resolve problems. Manage and document systems configurations, trouble incidents, test procedures, and test execution/results. Exercise technical leadership to obtain agreement on required actions, schedules and the resolution of conflicting points of view concerning support operations and WIN-T INC 2 systems. Coordinate system development tasks with other program System Engineering leads based on integration challenges and/or new requirements. Provide systems engineering oversight of the development of development and testing of SATCOM systems, baseband networking equipment, and software development for the core WIN-T INC 2 systems. Coordinate across the embedded WIN-T INC 2 enduring support team to obtain concurrence and to implement plans of action to accomplish PM objectives. Attend WIN-T INC 2 meetings. Represent the Warfighter Information Network- Tactical (WIN-T) INC 2 at planning conferences conducted by the Unit or other organizations. Collaborate with leadership and representatives from stakeholder organizations at all levels in order to coordinate and/or integrate PM operations and objectives. Develop and present briefings as required to Army, Warfighter Information Network- Tactical (WIN-T) and Unit personnel regarding current status of Systems Engineering and Network Architecture planning, and/or test efforts. Support network planning, network set up, configuration, troubleshooting and testing as well as teardown. Work closely with unit CFSRs and S6 staff as well as other personnel to coordinate activities.

Applicants must possess knowledge of Systems Engineering processes and methodologies to include military network and communications systems engineering. Specialized skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Systems Engineer will include the ability to plan and coordinate military networks to meet operational mission objectives, the ability to configure network devices, to include Cisco and Juniper routers and switches, as well as the ability to understand network monitoring and troubleshooting procedures. Knowledge of WIN-T INC 2 systems, to include the WIN-T INC 2 Node Management Software (NMS) suite, McAfee Host Based Security System (HBSS), SNMPc Online, Solarwinds Orion, Cisco Secure Access Control Server and Radius, is required. Ability to develop basic scripts and to analyze collected data elements is desired. Knowledge of multiple operating systems and an understanding of military mission command applications (e.g., JCR/BFT-II, TIGR, CPOF, AFATDs) is also desired. Specialized experience gained performing work as an engineer in industry or as an officer within an active, reserve or National Guard unit is desired. Experience in acquisition (Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering [SPRDE]) is desired.
